For his first show as our recurring Monday host, Douglas Haynes digs into the new book The World As We Knew It: Dispatches from a Changing Climate. Joining him is one of the anthology’s editors Amy Brady and contributing author Nickolas Buttler.

They discuss the big feelings around climate change explored in the book, and take us deep into several of the essays.

The World As We Knew It

Amy Brady is the Executive Director of Orion and the former Editor-in-Chief of the Chicago Review of Books. She is the author of Ice: An American Obsession, a cultural history of ice forthcoming from Putnam in 2023. Her writing about culture, environmentalism, and climate change has appeared in O, the Oprah magazineSlateThe Los Angeles TimesThe New Republic, The Village Voicethe Dallas Morning NewsPacific StandardMcSweeney’sLiterary Hub, among others.

Nickolas Butler is a novelist based out of rural Wisconsin. He is the author of Shotgun Lovesongs, Beneath the BonfireThe Hearts of Men, and Little Faith.
