Breaking Down the Israel-Hamas War with Jennifer Loewenstein

In a show full of listener calls, we welcome Jennifer Loewenstein back on A Public Affair to help us discuss the historical context, the current reality facing Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, and the US support of Israel. “There’s no question that the United States gives Israel disproportionate share of American tax dollars,” Jennifer says. “Israel gets $3.8 billion a year in military assistance. And in addition to that, Biden just insisted that $14 billion more be granted to Israel… My question to listeners is, what is that money doing? Where is it really going?”

Jennifer Loewenstein is an American activist, journalist, and founder of the Madison-Rafah Sister City Project. Her work has appeared in academic journals such as The Journal of Palestine Studies, and she is a regular contributor to the CounterPunch magazine.
